10 Wrestlers WWE Should Have Pushed More

8. Christian

There's just something off about Christian's appearance, at least, that is, according to Vince McMahon. At one point in the early 2000s, McMahon apparently even considered censoring Edge's brother's face for reasons presumably only he knew. Needless to say, Christian rarely got the superstar treatment during his WWE tenures.

Bar a brief 2004 push derailed by injury and a fun feud with John Cena in '05, Christian's singles run after splitting from Edge in '01 was strictly midcard. His subsequent work in TNA, however, proved just how good he could be on top. As both a babyface and heel, Christian Cage delivered the goods with action-packed matches, heated feuds and first class promos.

It was a stark departure from the jobber to the stars he'd become in his final months with WWE. Carrying himself with poise and confidence, the leader of The Christian Coalition became TNA's top heel through late '06 and '07 and was a consistent highlight of every show he was on.

When rumours surfaced of a 2009 return to WWE, fans were elated. What followed was hugely disappointing. Christian languished in ECW for years and, beyond two painfully brief runs (one was just two days) with the World Heavyweight Championship in 2011, never got anywhere near the top of the card.

Considering his versatile character work, sound in-ring psychology, technical prowess and consistent crowd connection, Christian was criminally wasted by WWE across two lengthy spells with the promotion.
