4. Stone Cold

This may be the most famous case of a wrestler not being allowed to leave WWE. In 2002, the former six-time WWE Champion was at his wit's end with the company who made him a star.

Stone Cold wasn't as big as he used to be. This was evident when he was put in a mid-card match against Scott Hall at WrestleMania earlier that year, and when he was told that he would be jobbing to Brock Lesnar on a random episode of Raw with no build, The Rattlesnake had enough.

So he walked away with no intentions of ever reporting back to the job. Austin sat at home for several months until a fateful meeting with Vince McMahon. The two agreed that Steve Austin would pay a $250,000 fine for his walkout and keep working dates until his WrestleMania XIX retirement.
