10 Wrestlers You Didn't Realise Wrestled For WWE In 1997
6. Tajiri
In 1997, the company suddenly became bullish about building a Light Heavyweight division to rival WCW's vaunted Cruiserweight division, and brought in notable Michinoku Pro daredevils Great Sasuke and TAKA Michinoku to head up the class. Tajiri was less than three years into his career when he came over from Big Japan Pro Wrestling to work several WWF matches, mostly with Michinoku.
After working a Raw match with TAKA on July 14, Tajiri would be brought back for a spate of matches in October, working three shows and putting over both TAKA and Brian Christopher, by then the two clear choices to head up the new division after Sasuke left the company.
Stateside, Tajiri's next big strike would come a year later, as a fresh curiosity in ECW.
