In 1986, Jim Crockett Promotions ran its first ever Crockett Cup tag team tournament. In the quarter-finals, the team of The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers) squared off against The Sheepherders, Butch Miller and Luke Williams, better known as Bushwhacker Butch and Bushwhacker Luke.

A violent brawl broke out towards the end of the match, causing a double DQ, but not before Dave Meltzer had seen enough to give the match his seal of approval. For just the eighth time in Observer history, he awarded the match five stars.

Butch and Luke were actually an incredibly accomplished team in the mid-80s and would have been considered in the upper echelons of North American tag team performers. It was only after their move to the WWF in 1988 that they became better known for their more "unconventional" activities.

Yes, the team famous for licking each other's heads have more five-star matches than The British Bulldogs, The Dudley Boyz, and The Motor City Machine Guns combined. Let that be a lesson to all of you - you can hone your craft as much as you want, but it will never be a substitute for gurning and a funny walk.
