10 Wrestlers You Didn't Know Had A 5 Star Match

7. Matt Sydal

This entry is not implying that Matt Sydal is not a good wrestler, far from it. It is more to highlight the fact that the man most people will know as Evan Bourne had one of the best matches in PWG history.

Said match was a six-man tag at the 2016 edition of BOLA. Sydal teamed with Ricochet and Will Ospreay to do battle with the Superkliq of Adam Cole and The Young Bucks. Looking at the calibre of the men involved, it's not surprising that this match got five stars; a company first for PWG.

Sydal's high-flying skills and his focus on technical submissions make him an ideal candidate for Dave's praise, but he's never really found himself in a position to get top marks. His stint in WWE was never going to rake in the stars and he's never reached the level in promotions like Impact, ROH, or AEW that would award him the chance to prove himself.

At 39-years-old, Sydal is in the twilight of his wrestling career. Whilst another five star match may never come his way, he will always have this memory of a dingy veterans hall in California.
