10 Wrestlers You Didn't Know Had A 5 Star Match
4. The Big Bossman
The now-iconic WarGames cage made its first appearance over the rings of The Great American Bash tour in July 1987. The first match featured one of the all-time great wrestling feuds as a team led by Dusty Rhodes went up against Ric Flair and The Four Horsemen.
Tragedy struck in that first match when Horseman J. J. Dillon got injured. With another WarGames match scheduled for a few weeks' time, a replacement was needed. Enter "The War Machine", aka Ray Traylor, aka The Big Bossman.
One year before The Bossman would debut for the WWF, Traylor came to the aid of The Horsemen as their fifth man. Despite losing the match for his team, Traylor was awarded his first and only five-star rating from Dave Meltzer.
This was the first time a WarGames match received a five star rating and only the fourteenth perfect score to be awarded by Meltzer up to that point. It helped set the template for future WarGames matches and innovated the entire wrestling business. The fact that Traylor was part of such a legendary match only adds to his status as one of the greatest unsung heroes in wrestling history.
