10 Wrestlers You Didn't Know Were In Oscar Nominated Movies

2. Hulk Hogan (Rocky III)

Nominated For: Best Original Song

Hulk Hogan's name might come as something of a surprise here, given he has a reputation for gathering up more turkeys than Bernard Matthews at Christmas, but rest assured: his acting, ahem, acumen, had absolutely nothing to do with this award.

The otherwise crap third round of box 'em up Rocky surprisingly found its way into a golden envelope by virtue of its iconic musical number Eye of the Tiger, a runaway Billboard hit which is better remembered today than the film itself. Hogan - despite only having a brief supporting role in the film - used the song as his entrance theme for a spell in 1983, before switching to his more familiar but not Academy nominated 'Real American' tune.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
