10 Wrestlers You Should Be Most Thankful For This Year
8. Sasha Banks
WWE attempted to give its flagging divas' division a shot in the arm with the summer's "divas' revolution." NXT competitors Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch were called up to the main roster and promptly mishandled, strengthening WWE's reputation as a company that doesn't know how to handle female talent and leaving NXT the reigning and defending champion of women's wrestling. NXT's reputation has come, in no small part, from Banks, who won the brand's Women's Championship in a four-way match at February's NXT Takeover: Rival. Banks defended the belt against Charlotte and Becky Lynch before joining Raw as the reigning champion. That didn't stop her from competing for the Orlando-based brand, though - she lost the title to Bayley at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, then failed to recapture it in an Iron Man match in the main event of NXT Takeover: Respect. What did all those matches have in common, besides Banks's participation? They were widely considered the greatest women's wrestling matches in WWE history. At only 23 years of age, Banks has redefined mainstream women's competition, and the sooner WWE realizes that, the sooner they'll be able to properly transfer her talent to their own division.
