Though they started as Road Warrior clones, Ax and Smash eventually did enough with the power and paint gimmick to forge their own identity within a framework established by Hawk and Animal, dominating lesser tandems across a hugely successful run yielding three WWF World Tag Team Championship reigns.

Demolition's first run with the gold was their longest.
