The innovator of the Shooting Star Press was one of Cena's main rivals in late-2002.

The pair started off as partners in the first round of a WWE Tag Team Championship tournament, but were unsuccessful in their pursuit of the gold.

This loss spiralled out into a rivalry and the two tangled a dozen times before the end of the year.

Cena beat Kidman on the next week's SmackDown, but Billy returned the favour one week after that. His win came after he reversed a Cena powerbomb into a rope-assisted pin as the crowd were shocked by this flagrant rule-breaking. Well, they were mildly shocked. Neither of these guys were particularly over at the time.

These two would meet just once more on TV during a mixed tag team match at the UK exclusive Rebellion Pay-Per-View. Kidman and his partner Torrie Wilson were victorious when Kidman pinned Cena again, this time without using the ropes.

This match, which had Dawn Marie tagging with Cena, was re-run on the house show circuit a few times after this, with Kidman and Wilson winning every single time. The moral of this story? If you want to beat John Cena, you should give Billy Kidman a call
