'Stunning' Steve entered the 1992 G1 Climax for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship as the reigning WCW World Television champion.

Chalking out a victory against fellow Dangerous Alliance member Arn Anderson in the first round of the single elimination tournament, the future Stone Cold moved on the quarterfinals, where he squared off against the alter ego of the Great Muta, Keiji Mutoh.

Eliminated at the second time of asking, Mutoh bested Austin with his legendary moonsault, sending Austin back to WCW, where he would lose his Television Championship to Ricky Steamboat three weeks later.

Austin did get a measure of revenge, of sorts, defeating the Great Muta by disqualifiaction in a match for the United States Championship at Spring Stampede two years later.

Mutoh would go on to finally win the G1 Climax in 1995, while Austin would jump to the WWE a year later and go on to become arguably the biggest star the 'rasslin business has ever seen.
