10 Wrestling Alliances You Completely Forgot Happened
6. Big E, Dolph Ziggler, and A.J Lee
In retrospect, this team actually makes a lot of sense - three hugely talented, charismatic, and often seriously over wrestlers who deserved much better treatment from their employer. The sight of Ziggler as one of the top heels with a pre-New Day Big E backing him up and AJ Lee on his arm seems strange from a 2020 viewpoint. While the team encompassed some of the most dramatic days of Ziggler’s career, it didn’t last very long, and was clearly dropped when the bookers ran out of ideas.
The idea was a sound one from the off - give Ziggler some impetus as a top heel, debut NXT’s Big E (on whom Vince was reportedly very keen at the time), throw in AJ’s star power, and create big things for all three.
It could have worked - Ziggler cashed in his Money In The Bank during this time to an ear-splitting pop - but the faction boss got a concussion and was soon stripped of his belt, and barely six months after the crew’s inception, they were scattered.
Wrestling has been a rollercoaster journey for all three members, and this group was little more than a minor diversion for all of them.
