2. Why Bray Wyatt Was Sent Back To NXT?
Pre-Bray Wyatt, the late great Windham Rotunda first appeared on WWE TV as a member of The Nexus, going by the name of Husky Harris.
He'd stick around on-screen for a few months before being sent back down to developmental, but it wasn't ever explained precisely what led to that decision.
Within WWE's walls, though, there was actually a rumour that the eventual WWE Champion was taken off main roster TV because of an incident involving John Cena.
Many years on from that demotion, former Baron Corbin, Tom Pestock, told Chris Van Vliet (01:06:00 in the video below) recently that Rotunda accidentally poked The Face that Runs the Place in the eye during a match, with this then p*ss*ng off Vince McMahon and Cena, and resulting in the newcomer being thrown back to NXT for a few years.
There's also a cool story out there about Rotunda apparently telling Vince, "I'll be back" after he was literally booted off TV by Randy Orton.
Now the Cena eye-poke drama may only be a rumour, but it's one that Pestock confidently stated he felt was "100% true."
And it was that story which led to him being quite terrified when he accidentally did the same thing to Super Cena a few years later.
Cena apparently lost his cool and unleashed many an expletive after being poked by a then-Corbin in a 2016 bout. The former Mr. Money in the Bank even admitted he was on the verge of tears at the thought of getting the Bray treatment for his actions. One stiff receipt later, though, Cena let Corbin know backstage that they were cool.
However, for a minute there, Cena couldn't see Corbin.
