10 Wrestling Attires We Only Saw Once (And Why)
5. Cedric Alexander - Gary 'The GOAT' Garbutt
Admittedly, this is still one of the weirdest one-off attire changes in recent wrestling history.
On an episode of Monday Night Raw in July 2019, Shane McMahon and his evil henchman future-WWE Champion Drew McIntyre were desperately trying to find a tag partner for Roman Reigns backstage. They eventually stumbled upon a janitor called Gary Garbutt and convinced him to stand there and do nothing in their match against 'The Big Dog' for $5,000. He would also have to wear a mask .
So far, so Monday Night Raw.
Things were all going to plan for McMahon and McIntyre until the three-time prudential employee of the month started to bounce around the ring like a Cruiserweight in the latter stages of the match.
After lighting up Shane-O-Mac with a gluttony of shots and diving over the top rope onto the 'Scottish Psychopath', Garbutt was eventually obliterated by the Scot via Claymore kick. So much for that, then.
However, the real 'shocker' came at the end of the night when Garbutt took off his luchador mask and was revealed to be none other than former Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander.
Needless to say, Alexander hasn't tapped into his janitorial alter-ego ever since this rather pointless bait-and-switch and we'd probably prefer it if he kept it that way.
