10 Wrestling Attires You Totally Forgot Famous WWE Stars Wore

7. The Rock's Ceremonial Dress

Dwayne Johnson is a man who has charmed Hollywood, conquering the world as the first ever wrestler who can legitimately claim to have crossed over from grappling into the movie industry. Make no mistake about it, Johnson doesn't need wrestling any longer, but that wasn't always the case. Upon making his debut in 1996 as Rocky Maivia, the man who would become a World Champion multiple times as The Rock looked like a chump. Sporting a poodle-like hair do that he himself has mocked numerous times, Maivia would also wear a curious ring jacket on his way to the ring. The intention was obvious, the attire was supposed to pay homage to his Samoan heritage, paying tribute to his grandfather, the 'High Chief' Peter Maivia, but it wouldn't really last all that long. Who knows who made the decision to cut the item from Rocky's wardrobe, but within months he was no longer waltzing to the ring with the tunic on. A lot of fans have stated, time and time again, that Rocky Maivia gave no indication that he was a future WWF/WWE Heavyweight Champion, but discarding the ceremonial dress was just one small step towards better things.
