10 Wrestling Bouts From Other Promotions That Need Rematches In WWE
8. Apollo Crews Vs. Johnny Gargano
When it comes to ultra-talented youngsters on WWE's roster, there are few more "can't-miss" than Apollo Crews and Johnny Gargano. The two stars are both 28 years old (born only eight days apart, in fact), have both worked for Dragon Gate and the promotion's U.S.-based affiliate, and will both be stars - if WWE doesn't bungle things.
It was in Dragon Gate USA's sister promotion, EVOLVE, that the two men had their first singles match. At EVOLVE 27 in early 2014, Johnny Gargano - then a heel - defended DGUSA's top title, the Open the Freedom Gate Championship, against Uhaa Nation. Gargano was nearing the 800-day mark as champion, but a challenge from Nation would be difficult to survive. The two had a wild back-and-forth match that saw Gargano attempt to use the ring bell, and the champion ultimately retained the title.
The following year, the two actually did clash in WWE - Crews defeated Gargano in a non-televised match prior to making his TV debut. Today, Gargano is a regular in NXT while Crews is on the main roster. Hopefully, "Johnny Wrestling" will join him there and the two can clash again.
