10 Wrestling Careers Damaged By WWE Backstage Politics

The WWE has as nearly as much political backstabbery as number 10 Downing Street.

If only the wrestling business was about who the best wrestler was - not about who'll sell tickets and merchandise, not about who is the most connected, or about who kisses the most ass. So many genuine talents over the years have failed to succeed purely because they didn't have friends backstage, or because other wrestlers did. Such factions are now public knowledge such as the off-screen group known as The Kliq, or the NWO originals such as Hogan, Nash and Hall. Hulk Hogan and Triple H in particular have become infamous for burying talent, in fears of losing their own top spots to potential top-tier talents. It's a shame, but those who are already on top will forever have more swing, say and influence than the guys still trying to climb the ladder, no matter what the sport or business. Even certified stars such as The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin were once the subject of backstage politics, but they got over regardless of HBK and friends. Some however, aren't so lucky. This article is dedicated to those who couldn't get over on pure talent alone, those who were held back from titles and championships just because they weren't liked by certain players, and those who were unjustly treated due to the influence of those more powerful than they. Here are ten wrestling careers damaged by backstage politics.
