10 Wrestling Championship Reigns That Didn't Fit The Wrestler

Staying in 2002 with the emergence of a wee wrestling promotion called TNA and their nifty little idea called the 'X-Division'. The X-Division had no weight or height limit, instead focusing on high-risk, fast-paced action. While the division was largely comprised of smaller competitors such as AJ Styles, Low Ki, Jerry Lynn and Matt Bentley, bigger lads such Sonny Siaki and Samoa Joe would eventually join the fray, still upholding the core principles of the division.

Enter Abyss, the 380lb behemoth who had been a part of TNA since their formation who had accrued the reputation of being, a little heavy handed, shall we say. The hardcore titan had spent the majority of his career pulling thumbtacks out of his back whilst throwing poor sods into barbed wire, so a run with the X-Division Championship sticks out just a smidge.

As a constituent of the Eric Bischoff-led, not-at-all-like-the-nWo, stable Immortal, Abyss captured the title, defeating Kazarian in mid 2011. In storyline, it kind of made sense with Bischoff effectively declaring "war" on the X-Division, but the idea of a heel high-flyer who could say "I can do it better" wasn't a foreign concept; it's happened with John Morrison, Justin Gabriel, Pac, both Hardy Boyz and even AJ Styles!
