Whether supernatural or otherwise, they made bedtime a scary proposition.

Young children have a curious take on the world of professional wrestling. A sweeping generalisation for sure, but how else can people explain the fascination with John Cena's multi-coloured wardrobe? Attend any WWE live event, and fans will be met with an incredibly unique visual - on one side, adults boo Cena relentlessly, hating that he's being shoved down their collective throats. On the other, young kids are enraptured by his every move, and it becomes clear why WWE refuse to turn the man heel. Going back to your own youth, there would have been pro wrestling characters who pushed all the right buttons for your young, wide-eyed self. Perhaps it was the red and yellow of Hulkamania which captured your imagination, or maybe you were even one of those youngsters who preferred the bad guys, being taken in by the antics of the cocky, brash Shawn Michaels of the early-1990's. As sure as there were guys and gals who made you happy, there were ones which caused the trousers of children to turn an alarming shade of brown, such was their freaky nature and frightening appearance! This article explores 10 of those personalities, ones which caused hairs to stand tall on the back of the neck, and make bedtime a scary proposition.
