10 Wrestling Details That Aren’t As Important As You Think
7. Mickie James' Knockouts Championship
For the majority of its existence, WWE has ignored 'rival' promotion, Impact Wrestling.
Previously known as TNA, Impact has been a taboo subject matter in WWE for decades. Even wrestlers who made their names in the company, like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe, were barred from ever mentioning it.
This is why Mickie James appearing in the 2022 Royal Rumble wearing the Impact Knockouts Championship was seen as such a big deal.
James had returned to Impact in mid-2021 after being let go by WWE. She won the Knockouts Title in October and, three months later, got a call from WWE inviting her to appear in the Rumble.
Was this the start of a partnership between the two companies? Maybe WWE were finally breaking down their own forbidden door? Sadly not.
The embarrassing truth is that this has to do with James' possessions being returned to her in a trash bag after she was let go by WWE. Mickie has said that she wanted to do the Rumble in order to wash the bad taste of that incident out of her mouth..
Suffice to say that neither Impact nor Mickie's belt were ever mentioned again.
