The insane levels of popularity 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin was able to achieve back in the mid-90s - and the massive impact that WWE run made on the business - only becomes that more impressive when you remember just how short his spell as a full-time sports entertainment player actually was.

Signing with WWE in 1995, this 'Ringmaster' would eventually evolve into an ass-kicking 'Texas Rattlesnake' and become the hottest star in the game, and he did all that across a full-time run that only actually lasted seven years (1995-2002).

And that, remarkably, means that people like NJPW legend, but now upper-midcard-jobber, Shinsuke Nakamura have actually been an active full-time performer in the company for longer than Austin - with Nak dealing out knees to faces for eight years on both NXT and WWE's main roster.

That also means the likes of Finn Balor, Pete Dunne and AJ Styles have all enjoyed longer full-time WWE runs than the legendary Austin, too.

Hell, Drew McIntyre's second WWE stint alone will cross into the eight-year mark next year, with all of this just highlighting the fact that 'Stone Cold's iconic spell as a consistently active WWE wrestler really was relatively brief in hindsight.
