Renee Young has blossomed into one of the best hosts (male or female) in WWE. Her enthusiastic delivery, attention to detail and ability to follow a script without coming across as forced makes her essential. She might not be where she is had she not agreed to change her name though.

Originally, Renee wanted to use her birth name in WWE and go by Renee Paquette. This wasn't due to ego, it was due to the fact she had appeared on television as herself before and didn't know in advance that changing her name would be a prerequisite before signing a contract.

That's what she told Edge and Christian on the pair's podcast.

Young also revealed that WWE later pitched the name Renee Sterling to her. When she turned that down, both parties settled on Young. Even then, the announcer remained hesitant that fans wouldn't buy into a manufactured gimmick name.
