10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week

4. The New World Order's "4 Life" Catchphrase Came From Mack 10

To a then-35 year old Kevin Nash, it seemed ridiculous that a large white guy could wear his bandana backwards and get over in 1996. That's what Nash did when launching the nWo, and his entire act was inspired by West Coast rap.

That's where the group's hip "4 life" catchphrase stemmed from.

Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast, Nash said that lengthy road trips with Scott Hall resulted in both listening to a ton of albums released by Death Row Records. In one song, Mack 10 rapped about robbing a McDonalds restaurant with a friend who replied he'd wanted to do that "for life".

Instantly, Hall and Nash saw the potential to turn that to their advantage and adverts for the new "nWo 4 life" t-shirt started popping up on WCW's Monday Nitro. According to Nash, the nWo's entire gang culture was inspired by Death Row.
