Hearing Edge, Christian and Gangrel talk about working together as The Brood was great fun on the recent E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness. The trio had an underrated dynamic, and the vampire brotherhood gimmick was a sweet launching pad for both younger wrestlers.

Specifically, it was a vehicle to get Edge over. Nobody else, not even Christian.

Gangrel was approached by officials behind the scenes and outright told what the plan was for the new faction. They informed him that Edge was already considered a potential future World Champion, and Gangrel's job was only to keep him safe in the interim.Similarly, despite being a lot younger, Christian was there to help push Edge to the top.

There were no hopes that the childhood friends (and kayfabe brothers) could splinter off as a successful tag-team. The Brood was supposed to last until the WWF were ready to run with Edge solo.
