10 Wrestling Facts We Didn’t Know Last Week (July 26)

10. Eric Bischoff Didn't Know Kane Worked For WCW

Back in 1993, Eric Bischoff replaced Bill Watts as WCW's Executive Producer. Part of his grand plan involved cutting costs for travel and limiting the promotion's live event schedule so that money could be saved on that side of things too. Apparently, Bisch was a little too busy penny pinching and trying to turn a profit to notice who was working matches.

On his '83 Weeks' podcast, Eric revealed he didn't know that Kane had once worked for WCW.

In fairness to Bischoff, 'Bruiser Mastino' (the gimmick name Kane was given) only worked one match against Sting on an episode of Saturday Night. The glorified squash match was a tryout for Glenn Jacobs more than anything, and it was a nifty excuse for the Stinger to beat someone of stature on TV. The whole thing totally skipped by Bischoff.

He was really surprised to hear co-host Conrad Thompson talk about Kane's experience in WCW. Over 26 years on from the match happening, Eric was finding out about it for the first time.
