2. Jim Ross Didn't Know About Jon Moxley's AEW Debut

The entire wrestling world collectively gasped when Jon Moxley, who had just departed WWE, rolled into the ring at AEW's first pay-per-view and wreaked havoc. Within minutes, Twitter was alight with excitable comments, and Double Or Nothing had its most newsworthy story. Meanwhile, Jim Ross called the action like he didn't know it was happening.

That was a shoot.

Ross told Sports Illustrated after the event that he had asked AEW management about Moxley's signing 10 days before the event. When top brass told JR talks were progressing well, he put it out of his mind and prepared notes for the pay-per-view. Come show time, Ross noticed that Mox wasn't anywhere on his format, so he assumed he hadn't signed in time.

The stunned reaction of Double Or Nothing's announce team worked a treat. Ross, in particular, was able to draw on old experiences he had of deliberately asking WWE not to spoil finishes for him so he could react organically. That proved invaluable last weekend in Vegas.
