Years earlier, one of WWE's most flamboyant superstars wasn't exactly sure clearing the lines between Adrian Street and real-life homosexuality was a good idea. Rico Constantino actually believed he was being set up to fail by Vince McMahon himself, and he felt powerless to do anything about it.

To Rico, it'd be insulting to play a gay stylist who shied away from physical competition just because of his sexuality. That's why, when confronted with allegations about his urges on screen, Rico decided to play the fool and lean on ambiguity. This helped him remain as inoffensive as possible without totally sacrificing what McMahon wanted.

Interesting.

It's also why Rico wanted to work with Jackie Gayda eventually. On Robbie E's 'Why It Ended' show, Constantino admitted that his over-the-top, colourful character needed a female counterpoint to keep that uncertainty ticking over.
