10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (18 Oct)

1. Paul Heyman Suggested Triple H Beat Tazz

Tazz Triple H

That wasn't the only interesting factoid Prichard had up his sleeve about Taz.

Renamed Tazz in the WWF for copyright reasons, the ECW star would collide with Triple H on the 18 April episode of SmackDown. At the time, it was billed as WWF Champion vs. ECW Champion, and the common fan thinking about Trips' win has always been that he and the WWF were belittling ECW.

That argument kinda' collapses when learning that it was Paul Heyman who pitched the outcome. He was planning a Taz(z) vs. Tommy Dreamer title switch on ECW's Hardcore TV four nights later, and he wanted to add heat to that situation by booking a Dreamer run-in on the SmackDown match.

That's what happened. Dreamer interfered, "accidentally" smashed Tazz with a chair and Triple H got the victory. The whole angle was painstakingly created by Heyman to further his ECW storylines and lead to a title change on Hardcore TV's 22 April episode.
