10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week
6. Kurt Angle Used To Train 10 Hours Per Day
Kurt Angle took to professional wrestling almost immediately after he decided that's what he wanted to do with his life. Making his in-ring WWF debut in 1999, Angle was WWF Heavyweight Champion by the following October, defeating The Rock at No Mercy 2000. His rise was rapid, but the man had been a winner long before then.
As most people know, Angle won a Gold Medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. His amateur wrestling career is still heralded by the sport today, and the man clearly enjoys looking back to that time during interviews and media appearances. Nowadays, the way Kurt Angle works out and keeps fit has changed. However, there was a time when his training regimen was mind-blowing.
Today, Kurt trains for around 1 hour per day. Back when he was training to compete in the Olympics, it wasn't uncommon for the wrestling machine to spend as much as 10 hours in the gym and on perfecting his craft. That's an insane amount of time to spend working out each day, but shows the drive and dedication the guy had to succeed.
