10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week

3. Rey Mysterio's Favourite Match Has Changed

For years, Rey Mysterio regarded a scrap with Eddie Guerrero in WCW as his favourite career match of all time. At the 1997 Halloween Havoc Pay-Per-View, both Mexican wrestlers met in a 'Mask vs. Title' bout over the WCW Cruiserweight Title. For Rey, this match was his greatest and smoothest performance ever. Somewhere along the line, his choice has changed. Now, Mysterio favours his SummerSlam 2005 bout against Guerrero as his best ever. That news is sure to surprise many fans, as not a lot of people enjoyed the wacky storyline surrounding the Ladder Match. The contest wasn't for any title belt, it was for custody of Rey's son, Dominick. The angle made several uncomfortable, and whilst the action in the match itself was enjoyable, it was largely overshadowed by the story. For Mysterio, he and Guerrero clicked at SummerSlam '05. Citing the fact that his family were involved as a major positive, the diminutive masked man says the match was the most fun he has ever had in pro wrestling. That's somewhat of a surprise, given the fact he also tangled with the likes of The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels.
