Watch enough WWE television from this past week (whether it be WrestleMania, Raw or SmackDown) and you might've heard some CM Punk chants boom out from audiences in the New York area. They were most prevalent on SmackDown when Shane McMahon referred to himself as the "Best In The World" over and over.

Punk caught wind of this, and he's been paying attention for a while now. He appeared on the Sauce & Shram show to vent about how this plot point is blatantly a dig at his old branding from WWE. At the same time, Punk thinks this is something his old employer would deny "until the cows come home".

Unfortunately for Punk, his comments fail to mention that Chris Jericho used 'Best In The World' before him.

Back in 2008, Y2J was saying things like, "I'm the best in the world at what I do", and that was years before it was tied to Punk's antihero persona. Maybe McMahon's gimmick is a poke at Punk, maybe it isn't, but it's important to remember he wasn't exactly original either.
