Most wrestling fans know by now that The Sandman was intoxicated for many of his big moments in the original ECW. That was the way the promotion was; nobody was punished for indulging in a few pre-show beverages, even though (in retrospect) the whole thing was an insurance nightmare waiting to happen.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rob Van Dam admitted to something of his own. Back in the 90s, RVD was stoned "100% of the time". He can't remember a time backstage where he didn't share a few joints with others or roll some himself. That must be why 'Mr. Monday Night' always seemed so chill for his appearances.

He was pretty baked.

This isn't something Van Dam has disclosed before. Even more interesting is the fact that he continued using marijuana before matches right up until 2014. Although that means he was doing it in WWE too, RVD did say pre-match tokes weren't as common under the McMahon umbrella.
