6. Vince McMahon's Savio Vega Confusion

Though it was hardly his fault, Savio Vega's inclusion as a last-minute partner for Triple H and The New Age Outlaws at No Way Out 1998 went down like a lead balloon. Vega was replacing no less a star than Shawn Michaels, who was sidelined with injury, and fans in Texas had expected something bigger.

Behind the scenes, Bruce Prichard told on his podcast that Vince McMahon was finding it hard to comprehend something else: barbed wire.

The writing team had put together a wild brawl for the pay-per-view's main event, and everyone knew there'd be some weapons involved. It wasn't until Savio went through the curtain at Gorilla that Vince realised what kind of equaliser Vega had, and he was left fuming. Nobody had told him about the wire.

A member of the creative team had asked if Vega could walk to the ring with a weapon to offset the disappointment of fans, and McMahon said yes. Prichard claims Vince sighed when he saw the barbed wire, said it was too late to stop it and vowed to be more careful next time.
