Fearing he might be about to miss WrestleMania for the second year running, a weary Seth Rollins travelled to Birmingham, Alabama for an MRI on the same knee that had forced him to miss 'Mania 32. This happened the day after Samoa Joe's debut on Raw, a segment that sadly ended in Seth being forced to contemplate another 6 months on the shelf.

Doctors did eventually clear Rollins, but the final decision regarding Seth's involvement in WrestleMania relied on WWE accepting his limitations. Telling Sporting News all about the discussions he had with the company, Rollins said the "powers that be" had to realise he wasn't going to be flying around the ring inside the Camping World Stadium.

Instead, he'd have to work a much slower style against Triple H than normal. So keen to just get the match out there was Vince McMahon that he tasked Rollins with putting his all into rehab. As soon as Seth was hurt again, WWE knew he wouldn't be on top form come WrestleMania, but they didn't want to cancel the match.
