In the intro, a story about how New Day's keen love of all things pancakes was teased. It's time to serve up (ahem) that tale and examine exactly why Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E extol the virtues of munching baked goodies any chance they get.

During an interview with First Things First, Kofi said it was Woods' idea, and it was supposed to be a one off. One night, Kingston and E were teaming up against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in a Lumberjack match, and Xavier decided to dress up as a literal lumberjack. He wore flannel, reasoned that loggers love pancakes and carried a platter to ringside with him.

Fans popped huge for the cakes, and that caught New Day's attention.

When they spoke with Vince McMahon post-match, all three members said they'd like to make pancakes a permanent part of their act. McMahon raised an eyebrow and asked why, only to hear from New Day that people seemed to love the quirkiness of it all. That was all it took. The boys began carting pancakes around at every show from that point on.
