Pointing out that Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes were World Tag-Team Champs for 202 days in 2007-2008 is like the answer to some obscure trivia question. It also feels like a lifetime ago. Back then, AEW chief Cody was just another young wrestler with lineage looking to pave his own path in the biz.

Bob had a plan, and he wasn't going to sugarcoat it.

When asked by a fan during a Twitter Q&A session if Holly was a good mentor, Cody said he was. Bob constantly took the young Rhodes to the gym, worked him hard and outright refused to mince his words when it came to feedback. According to Cody, that's exactly what he needed at such a delicate stage in his career.

Holly was tough, almost brutally so, but he helped Cody shed his green gills and become a more accomplished member of the WWE roster. That's something the successful entrepreneur is still grateful of today. He needed that kick up the ass, and Bob was only too happy to give him it.
