8. Roddy Piper Told Jesse Ventura He Wanted To Get Back On The Road

Jesse 'The Body' Ventura is someone a lot of older grappling fans would like to see occasionally appear back in WWE. When quizzed about why he has only made a few fleeting appearances since the turn of the millennium, Ventura notes that he has been busy in politics and hasn't always see eye-to-eye with Vince McMahon. However, someone he was great friends with was Roddy Piper. Throughout his time in wrestling, Ventura was - by his own admission - a bit of a loner. He didn't make many real friends away from the shows, but developed a close bond with Piper before Roddy's death earlier this year. Having numerous conversations both in person and over the phone, Piper was fascinated by Ventura's ability to 'switch off' the pro wrestling industry. Telling wrestlinginc.com about his relationship with Roddy, Jesse says the pair became very good pals eventually. Whilst Ventura was content to step away from wrestling, Piper had great difficulty accepting that his run was over. This is something he told Jesse of on a regular basis, that he longed to be back out on the road like he was before.
