3. Cesaro's Sharpshooter Is A Tribute To Tyson Kidd
Cesaro uses a Sharpshooter because Bret Hart was his favourite wrestler growing up, right? Wrong. The Swiss uses Bret's signature move as a tribute to other members of the legendary Hart family, and Bret isn't one of them.
During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Cesaro revealed that he started using the Sharpshooter in 2015 to honour ex-tag partner Tyson Kidd. After Kidd was sidelined with a career-ending neck/spinal injury that year, his friend decided to pay homage by using a move Tyson dearly loved.
Cesaro also pointed out that he performs the move differently to Bret. Both Bret and Natalya used/use their left leg to step through, but Tyson had always used his right instead. That's the mini-tribute from Cesaro every time he locks the hold on; he uses his right just like Kidd as a nod towards their time teaming together.
Good on you, Cesaro. Little stories tinged with sentimentality like that help make pro wrestling a better place.
