The fact that Kevin Owens is one of the best talkers on the Raw roster is made even more impressive upon learning that English isn't his first language. A French speaker growing up, the Canadian star had an unusual route to learning English.

One day, KO's father rented WrestleMania XI from the local video store. Watching the event had a huge impact on Kevin's life; picking up on various words and phrases the announcers used regularly, Owens started to learn what several English words actually meant.

After that tape had been watched to death, the wide-eyed youngster honed in on the commentary of Jim Ross on other WWF programming. This was a story Owens told Chris Jericho for the latter's Talk Is Jericho podcast, on which he also told his on screen buddy that Ross is directly responsible for his English-speaking abilities today.

Hilariously, the youthful outlook of Owens was also influenced by JR's own slang. Words such as 'Slobberknocker' became part of KO's vocabulary, even though they weren't widely used in his home town, if at all.
