10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Feb 6)

1. WWE Management Told Roman Reigns He Had To Work On His Body

The man now known as Roman Reigns was hired by WWE in July, 2010. At that point, he had just come out of a stint spent playing American Football, a sport he had retired from following release by a slew of teams. WWE management were high on Reigns from the beginning, but actually didn't think he was in the shape necessary to become a success in wrestling. Upon signing, Reigns weighed in at around 300lbs, and WWE officials were eager to see him cut that down quickly. This was revealed by Jim Ross, a man who had a say in Roman's signing, to Sports Illustrated recently. Ross then divulged that it was none other than Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson who gave Reigns advice on how to get more from his body and appease the wrestling promotion. Working his tail off, Reigns managed to get himself into better condition and lost the 'love handles' that were spilling over his tights. He was hardly majorly overweight, but he just needed some major toning before WWE could progress with him. Now, Reigns is in excellent condition, but it shows that even the biggest stars can have teething problems.
