7. Why 'Fighting With My Family' Is An Indie Movie

No major production studio wanted to touch 'Fighting With My Family'.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Rock told how he went on a wild goose chase around all the majors without luck. To them, the movie was about a British family nobody knew, and they couldn't understand Dwayne Johnson's fascination with making the thing. So, Rocky and WWE went indie.

Eventually, once the project was well underway, MGM came on board and agreed a distribution deal with The Rock. That was a slight relief, not least because it'd cover some of the costs of making sure the movie was seen in cinemas. It was a struggle to even get that far though.

Anyone who has seen trailers for the film would agree that it looks light, fluffy and heavy on British-style humour. It remains to be seen whether or not that'll jive with Rock's Hollywood glitz or get in the way. Judging from Rock's comments, it's a wonder the movie is seeing release at all.
