7. The Miz Based His Character On Tom Cruise
It seems like a lifetime ago that The Miz headlined WrestleMania XXVII opposite John Cena. In 2011, the heel was one of the top villains in WWE, but he is now much more of a bit-part player struggling to regain momentum in the mid card pack. In order to try and maintain some aura, the man decided to change up his character a few years ago. Appearing on Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss, The Miz revealed the direct inspiration for his Hollywood-obsessed gimmick. None other than Tom Cruise acted as influence for the wrestler's current persona. Watching various interviews with the actor, Miz was fascinated by his detachment from reality and wished to translate that into WWE. The Miz character has always been something of a loudmouth, but the celebrity-centric gimmick he plays now appears perfect for him.
