Standing tall as SmackDown Women's Champion, the Alexa Bliss fans see on television today contrasts heavily with the woman who attended the University Of Akron. Promoting upcoming WWE events to Ohio.com, Bliss was very candid about her time in high school and college.

Going in-depth about the life-threatening battle she faced, Alexa painted a sad picture of her time as a cheerleader. Encouraged to follow a strict diet by those running the course, the future wrestler dropped a significant amount of weight. Within just a few weeks Bliss went from 120lbs to a shocking 80lbs.

As a result of her diet and subsequent weight loss, Alexa developed anorexia. The mental health condition is serious, something Bliss quickly recognised. Acting with her own well-being in mind, she quit the cheerleading team and actually left the university altogether.

Checking herself into Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Alexa fought through the illness with the help of doctors. Today, she credits the horrendous experience as one that strengthened her character.
