8. Bobby Lashley Outshone Dolph Ziggler During WWE Tryouts

In a move that probably came from the same brain trust who thought renaming Curt Hennig's kid "Michael McGillicutty" was a good idea, poor Dolph Ziggler was almost named "David Diggler" in 2008. As if that wasn't tragic enough, Ziggler had previously faced the monumental task of overcoming another beast.

On that occasion, it was a physical one: Bobby Lashley.

During his appearance on Lilian Garcia's Chasing Glory podcast, Dolph told how he was matched up with Lashley for their respective WWE tryouts in 2004, and it sucked. At 165lbs soaking wet, Ziggler looked tiny next to the massive guy he was sharing the ring with, and he later confided in Lashley that the tryout was all about him.

In other words, Ziggler didn't think he had a hope in hell of impressing WWE officials when working Lashley. Everyone, to a man, gushed over Bobby's well-muscled frame from ringside, and Dolph knew right then he'd have to work another tryout against someone smaller if he was ever going to get noticed.
