For the first time in years, the infamous voice of Jerry 'The King' Lawler won't grace a WWE video game in WWE 2K18. There's a reason for this: Lawler hasn't been a regular announcer on television for the company since last year's Draft. He's much more of an auxiliary figure than ever before.

On his Dinner With The King podcast, Jerry revealed that Jeff Jarrett called him up shortly after the King had been removed from the SmackDown announce desk. Wondering if his old Memphis buddy was free to pursue ventures outside of his WWE duties, Jarrett was actually asking if Jerry could begin calling matches for TNA.

Lawler had to turn Jarrett down flat, reminding him that he was still under contract with Vince McMahon. To this day, Jerry believes that TNA fancied putting he and Jim Ross back behind the broadcast position for Impact Wrestling.
