10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (July 3)
9. Dana White Feels CM Punk Will Not Fight This Year
The general consensus over CM Punk's fledgling Mixed Martial Arts career up until this past week was that the former WWE star would make his debut in the Octagon before the end of 2015. According to UFC head honcho, Dana White, that is unlikely, and White told reporters this week that he expects to see Punk fighting in 2016, not this year as had originally been scheduled. It seems that Phil Brooks, the man behind the CM Punk moniker, is seeking more time to hone his skills before stepping up to the plate and fighting. Let's be honest, that's a smart move, it'd be foolish for Brooks to rush into anything before he feels fully ready, because he'd be likely to come out a little embarrassed and humbled. It's not exactly fresh news that CM Punk has said he'll never wrestle in WWE again, but there are some worries that the longer he goes without actually fighting in UFC, the more pressure he will be putting on himself to perform well once he does finally go toe-to-toe with another fighter. There can be little doubt that this is a pivotal moment in the man's career - he must look competitive during his fight fight, so it makes sense that he's being ultra-cautious, and UFC seem to be fully behind him.
