1. Goldberg Wanted To Put Bobby Eaton Over Mid-Streak

Born on August 14, 1958, Bobby Eaton is best-remembered as part of The Midnight Express tag-team. As a singles wrestler, he'd never get any higher than the mid card, and he was even less vital to WCW by 1998. At that point, Eaton was an enhancement worker at best, regarded by those in charge as someone they could rely on for a good match.

By stark contrast, Bill Goldberg was one of the biggest stars in the entire company. Defeating Hollywood Hogan in July, he became WCW's World Champion, and deservedly so. Goldberg was in the middle of an undefeated streak, but left WCW's power brokers reeling with one suggestion.

On a house show held on Eaton's birthday, Goldberg wanted to put the veteran over. Management would have none of it, turning down the idea straight away. This was a story told by Goldberg to Steve Austin's podcast this week.

In the middle of his unbeaten run, Bill wanted to show respect to Eaton, but it was never going to happen. WCW top brass wanted Goldberg's first loss to be huge, not during a non-televised dark match.
