There was a time when it seemed someone like AJ Styles would never make it to the WWE promised land. Before making his debut at the Royal Rumble in January, Styles had worked wonders for New Japan Pro Wrestling. That entire run was a calculated risk by AJ, who turned down an offer from TNA to make his mark abroad.

The gamble paid off, and Styles has become such an important part of the WWE product since his arrival. This past Monday, he was even the guest on Steve Austin's podcast show for the WWE Network. In the midst of an intriguing chat about his career, Styles remarked on his hopes for the future once he hangs up the tights.

According to AJ, one major goal he has after retiring from wrestling is to maintain a backstage role in WWE. That could be in the form of trainer at the WWE Performance Center, or possibly even as a road agent for matches.

Whatever the case, Styles obviously wants to remain on the WWE payroll even after he stops actively wrestling.
