Telling USA Today that he doesn't understand why anybody would be let down by his latest WWE run, Bubba Ray Dudley then went on to detail how D-Von and himself knew exactly what their role was when agreeing to a return in the Summer of 2015.

A logical run as WWE Tag-Team Champions never materialised for the legendary duo during that second tenure with the promotion despite their lengthy feud opposite The New Day; clearly, WWE officials were more interested in New Day's subsequent record-breaking stint with the titles than a short period as champs for The Dudleyz, because otherwise Bubba and D-Von would surely have bagged the belts.

Whilst Bubba does understand why fans wanted to see The Dudley Boyz as champions one more time, he also realised quickly what WWE wanted from the veteran team.

The Dudleyz were told from the outset that they were coming back to help enhance teams like New Day, The Usos and The Wyatt Family, instead of stealing the spotlight for themselves; this was a role both Dudleyz took seriously, and they agreed to put everyone over before signing contracts.
