Carmella has told before during interviews that she was devastated upon finding out she wouldn't be linking up with Enzo Amore and Big Cass on the main roster. Even though trio had worked well together in NXT, Triple H trusted his intuition and believed they needed to split in order to thrive on shows like Raw and SmackDown.

Appearing on Lilian Garcia's 'Making Their Way To The Ring' podcast this week, the 'Princess Of Staten Island' revealed that it was Byron Saxton who actually gave her that name and helped her settle onto the main roster as a solo performer.

Carmella knew she wanted to celebrate her Boston roots, but she was struggling to find the perfect way to do that without treading on the fact that Sasha Banks was already announced as hailing from the city. Having already settled on a mafioso vibe to her gimmick, Carmella was pleased when Byron suggested Staten Island as her new hometown and said the announcer was invaluable to helping her gain confidence.
